Student Facilitator at UNICEF HK

Background of co-organiser

UNICEF, United Nations Children’s Fund, is the world’s leading UN organization working for children. The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) was founded in 1986. As one of the national committees for UNICEF, we organize fundraising and advocacy activities to provide support for UNICEF’s programmes across over 190 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive.

Project details

As an echo to UNICEF’s global campaign on Early Child Development, UNICEF HK is planning a community engagement event (21 March 2018 – 15 April 2018) at a shopping mall in Tsueng Kwan O, targeting young parents and kids. The setting includes operating a loose part playground, photo booths, children’s drawing wall and simulation of play ideas.

Student facilitators are expected to support the UNICEF HK’s Advocacy and Public Relation Department on:

  • Assisting in event preparation and operation, e.g. ceremony and weekend workshops;
  • Providing on-site and logistic support e.g. volunteer briefing, guidance to parents; and
  • Assisting in engaging children, parents and other members of general public and monitoring safety.

Date

  • 4 FULL days or more at weekends of event period (21 March 2018 – 15 April 2018)
  • i.e. 10:30am -8:30pm (including 30-min pre-event briefing & checking, 1-hr lunch and 30-min tidy-up)
  • A compulsory training on right to play for successful candidates on 16 March (5pm-7pm) or 17 March (3pm-5pm) at Head Office of Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF

Eligibility

PGDE part-time students from all major subjects who:

  • Have high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin);
  • Have good interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Have positive attitude, well-organized, detail-oriented, are willing to learn and a good team player.

Remarks

  • Applicants will be invited to attend a group interview on the week of 26 February 2018 (details: tbc)
