Ocean Park is Hong Kong’s unique home grown theme park with a heritage of delivering family fun and fond memories. Being the education arms of Ocean Park, the Education Department has been providing quality Science and Conservation offerings to schools and the public since 1992.
Project details
Role description:
The Camp Instructor is responsible for leading and implementing core and non-core activities and experiences for children in a small group setting, covering topics like animal, character building, leadership and other enriching activities. You will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in his/her group. On behalf of Ocean Park, you will be providing high quality indoor and outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants that focus on the Ocean Park core values of fun, safety, conservation and education, respect for Community, People and Animals.
Essential responsibilities:
- Assist in organizing and leading a variety of small and large group activities
- Assist in creating a positive rapport with all campers and peers
- Demonstrate good sportsmanship, have good moral character, patience and a high level of maturityAssist in identifying and respond to camper behaviour issues
- Assist in maintaining the camp zones are kept clean, organized and free of litter
- Assist in keeping accurate programme records including incident reports and daily attendance
- Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp and all programme areas.
- Know, enforce and follow all the safety guidelines associated with the camp and all programme areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.
Requirements:
- Major in Biological Science, Education or other related disciplines is preferred
- Good command of both written and Spoken English and Chinese
- Enjoy outdoor activities; willingness to work with children; be out-going, responsible, active, customer-oriented, with good interpersonal and communication skills, passionate in education
- Able to interact with campers aged with 4-12 years old
- Permanent resident of HKSAR or with a valid work visa
Training details:
An Adventurous Experiential Training Camp will be provided. The camp is divided into TWO parts. Part 1 is a full day camp. Part 2 is a 2-day-1-night camp. Details of Adventurous Experiential Training Camp are listed below:
Part 1: (1 day) Full day camp on 3 or 4 June 2017 (You can choose to join either one of the days)
Part 2: (2 days 1 night) Overnight camp on 10 June 2017 at Ocean Park
Interns must attend both parts of the training
Internship period:
- July – August 2017
- Students are required to work for one full camp period (i.e. both AM and PM sessions for level 1 camps)

- Age range of participants for different camp levels:
- Level 1: 4 – 5yr
- Level 2: 6 – 8yr
- Level 3: 9 – 12yr
- You can choose to join either Cantonese or English camp for all sessions
