Internship at Christian Family Service Centre – “School of Good Life” for 50+ Population

Background of co-organiser

Christian Family Service Centre (CFSC) is a nonprofit social service organisation rooted in Hong Kong for over 63 years. For many years, CFSC is deeply connected and affectively tied with this city and its people. We keep pace with Hong Kong’s development and spearhead innovation in areas of social services, medical and health services, and environmental protection.

Turning 50 is a milestone that the second half of life is unveiled. Active Ageing Services steer people in their 50s towards a flourishing life with various novel services, including ‘School of Good Life’ and ‘Life Coach Service for the Third Age’ a first-of-its-kind service in Hong Kong tailored for people in their 50s. We are now looking for high caliber candidate to support our works under the Life Coach Service Team.

Project details

Key duties for interns:

  • Develop materials or activities for 50+ population to raise awareness towards a flourishing life;
  • Assist in planning, executing and evaluating the “School of Good Life” programmes;
  • Assist in administration works which are related to the “School of Good Life” programmes; and
  • Work in any other assigned duties.

Date

Project period: November 2017 – January 2018

Students in this project are expected to

  1. work for at least FOUR days (13:00 – 17:30) in the “School of Good Life” programme (Select four days from 11 Nov, 18 Nov, 25 Nov, 2 Dec, 9 Dec and 16 Dec); and
  2. keep close contact with the project supervisor through emails or phone in completing below tasks:
    • Prepare content for social media learning platform update on a bi-weekly basis;
    • Assist in designing and preparing materials/activities for FOUR 40-min workshops or ONE half-day workshop.

Face-to-face meetings will be also arranged between supervisor and individual students according to their schedule.

(Students may have to to work in multiple locations depending on the workshop venues)

Eligibility

PGDE part-time and UG students from all majors.

Students are expected to:

  • Have strong desire to learn new things and interact with 50+ population;
  • Be organized, responsible and self-initiated;
  • Have ability to work under remote supervision, in fast pace and under pressure;
  • Be a good team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Have language proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese; and proficiency in graphic design or page layout software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Office Publisher) is a plus.
