Background of co-organiser

Hopeland Education is a social enterprise promoting innovative education, founded by Principal Chan Hung. It designs innovative education camps, talks and workshops for students, parents and teachers based on 4A effective learning principles (Autonomy, Association, Authenticity, Achievement), preparing all school stakeholders essential core learning skills to take challenges of the 21st Century world, and changing HK exam-oriented learning atmosphere.
As a social enterprise, it cares about educational equality. 10% places of each learning programme will be reserved for underprivileged students, benefiting students from all backgrounds.

Project details

Hopeland Education emphasizes four guiding principles- Autonomy, Authenticity, Association & Achievement-in designing curriculum in which students experience learner autonomy in association with authentic environment and relationship, and self-directed achievement. Different from exam-oriented education, the curriculum in these camps focuses on whole person development.

Volunteer teachers in the camps will enjoy space, autonomy and flexibility in designing their own curriculum and learning activities, putting theories into practice and exchanging ideas and collaborating with a team of experienced and professional co-workers in education.

Responsibilities for HKU participants:
–           observe and assess students in pre-camp briefing/ meeting;
–           assist in planning and designing experiential learning  camps;
–           teach/co-teach lessons and lead activities in the Experiential learning camps; and
–           assist in other activities in the camp.

*Accommodation will be provided.

Hopeland Education will be organizing 3 camps and volunteer teachers are encourage to participate in these camp based on their own interests.

Camp: Lantau Island (accommodation will be provided)
Pre-camp briefing/ meeting will be held in one of Principal Chan’s centres.

Eligibility

4A Parent-Child Camp: PGDE (part-time) majoring in ECE
4A 5 Elements Camp: PGDE (part-time) and UGs of all majors
4A 8 Virtues Camp: PGDE (part-time) and UGs of all majors

*Literacy in Chinese would be an advantage
